Water Management
A fruitful part of the Earth with mild climate, big rivers and a sea connecting the inhabitants. During the centuries the population grew up in numbers and in knowledge. Who had more food, more water, he held the power over the Mediterranean. Melioration in Egypt's agriculture; public wells in each city. That was the beginning of what we call now water management.
The romans systems for water supply of each big city with its aquaducts and baths was the step in our days.
Time goes on... Conflicts for water, growing population, changing climate and flourishing touristic industry. A unique feature of this area is that water is one of the limiting conditions for sustainable development, increased quality of life and peace. Recognising the severity of the situation, it is necessary to consider the development of appropriate solutions while working on all of the factors liable to reduce pressure and avoid irreversible damage.
