The MED-HYCOS project

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), with the support of the World Bank, promotes the development of a World Hydrological Cycle Observing System (WHYCOS).  The first regional WHYCOS component is the MED-HYCOS project. 

IRD, Institute of Research for Development, hosts the MED-HYCOS Pilot Regional Centre in Montpellier since 1995. 

The MED-HYCOS information system is based on a World Wide Web to Database connectivity dealing with managing and numerical/graphical processing of Hydro-Meteorological data.

For any use, information (text, pictures, maps, tools, etc.) and hydrometeorological data, one must require the agreement of the concerned national hydrological service. Commercial use is strictly forbidden. 

DISCLAIMER : In any case, the responsibility of the national hydrological services and of the MED-HYCOS Project will not be engaged.

State of the MED-HYCOS Project - 1 December 2000

31 Data Collecting Platforms are working in the 13 following countries : Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Italy, Jordan, FYR Macedonia, Malta, Morocco, Slovenia, Tunisia and Turkey. 9 more are expected in Algeria, Lebanon and Palestinian Authority.

The MED-HYCOS Information System contains 3422 station-years of river discharges.
