PRESSURE LEVEL SENSOR
Pressure sensor technology from Keller
Company
GENERAL
The water level is measured by a
pressure transducer providing an electrical output proportional to the
hydrostatic pressure of liquid related to the atmospheric pressure.
The sensor is generally constituted
of a silicon piezoresistive or capacitive element.
The sensor is connected to the data
logger with a specific cable
MEASUREMENT SPECIFICATIONS
Transmission to the logger is of
4/20 mA current loop or of true binary type through a low speed (100 bits/sec)
synchronous serial transmission allowing « long distance »
communications.
CONDITIONS OF USE
The sensor has to be strongly fixed
at the bottom or at a defined level in the river bed, linked to the data
logger through the connecting cable. This one should be protected in its
submerged part as well as in its aerial part against damages.
Normally with this type of device
the distance between the sensor and the logger can be more than 100m.
