A High Resolution Integrated Forecast System for the Mediterranean Sea
An integrated atmosphere-ocean forecast system, covering the whole Mediterranean basin,
is being developed at ENEA
(Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment).
The project, sponsored by the Department
of Technical Services of the Italian Government, has two main goals: the high
resolution forecast of the state of the
Mediterranean Sea (in terms of surface wind, wave height and direction)
and the prediction of flooding events in the city
of Venice.

The EuroGOOS Mediterranean Test Case: science and
implementation plan.
This paper is a synthesis of the scientific and technological plans to
develop a Mediterranean Forecasting System. The overall aim of the
plan is to provide the conceptual framework for the design of the observational and
modeling systems which could exploit the potential
predictability of the ecosystem fluctuations in the Mediterranean coastal regions.

ESTIMATION OF DIRECTIONAL SEA SPECTRA FROM ERS/SAR IMAGES OF MEDITERRANEAN
AREAS: A CASE STUDY
An inversion technique for estimating sea wave directional
spectra from Synthetic Aperture Radar
(SAR) images is applied to a set of ERS-1 data relevant to selected Mediterranean areas.

SPECTRAL STUDY OF THE OCEAN SURFACE BY MEANS OF SAR MICROWAVE REMOTE SENSING
The region of the gulf of Lions
at the northwestern Mediterranean Sea has been studied within a two-year
period from December 1996 until November 1998

Sensitivity of a wave model to the wind
input in the Catalan coast
To assess the sensitivity of the WAM model cycle 4.0,
to different wind inputs data, the model was applied to Western Mediterranean Sea
area (-6° W, 20° E, 34° N, 45° N).
