ELECTROMAGNETIC DISCHARGE MEASUREMENT
GENERAL

This current meter is designed for discharge measurement in shallow water, minimum velocities.

As there is not moving piece e.g. a propeller, this device is very accurate in hard measurement conditions as plant-loaded water, polluted water etc.
 
 
 

MEASUREMENT SPECIFICATIONS

The magnetic induction principle according to Faraday offers the possibility to measure lowest velocities without any mechanically moved parts : if an electro-conductive medium moves in a magnetic field, then a voltage is induced in this conductor :

U = B . L . V

U : measuring voltage ; B : magnetic field ; L : length of the conductor ; V : velocity

 Thus the output voltage is linearly proportional to the velocity of the electric conductor. Depending on the principle, the measurement in each case should only covers the axial component of the flow velocity, that means by this a 100% component effect is get.
 
 

CONDITIONS OF USE

The electro-magnetic current meter can be used with a rod (generally 20 mm diameter), using sometimes a relocating device for an easy use in rivers.
